ok is there such a thing as a 325 gr bullet for a 308 and would it be capable of killing a coyote at 973 yards haha. The biggest 30 cal bullet iv heard of is 220 gr but i dont know much. And i dont know if 40 grains of powder would do much for a 325 gr bullet. A guy told me a story today with all these detail in it today and im just not beleaving it at all lol
thanks guys

Sierra makes a 240 MK bullet. I've not heard of anything bigger. The guy telling you the story is FOS likely unless he's talking about some homemade cast bullet of sorts.

ya i thought so. But lets say he did cast his own bullets would a 308 beable to send that bullet that far with any accuracy or nock down power? I wouldnt mind soundin like i know what im talkin about when i throw the flag on this guy

Sierra used to make a 250, it was the forerunner of the 240. There might be a few of those left.

BTW, for a 308 to shoot a 325, the twist would would have to be a 4-5 twist.

Did he start off "this is no bull.... or Once upon a time..."?

Yes, it may be possible to have a bullet in 308 @ 325 gr as indicated via a custom design as Derek M indicated. If we assume that henke4310 is referring to the 308 Winchester round It is not going to have the horsepower with 43 gr of powder to do the job with any authority @ 925 yds.

fantastic thanks guys for the help. This guys has the funniest off the wall stories i have ever heard and they get better every time. He has told me that he has been shot 9 times but wont show any scars, he was a p.o.w and got rescued but on the helicopter ride out he died and a girl on the helicopter brought him back to life and now he is married to her. He clames he killed someone in war b4 he was 18. theres many more like that and oh ya he is 35 years old fyi. Every story is just so unbeleavable its awesome if you know what im sayin

The guy is obviously a habitual or pathological liar. There is a difference in the two. A habitual liar lies to make themselves look good. They know they are doing it, and keep doing it in order to give the appearance of importance or knowledge. A pathological liar really does not know they are doing it and the things they say seem to make sense to them. They have a very loose grasp on reality. We have alll known people of both types. Either one is extremely irritating to us honest folks. Their stories always are the best, biggest, etc.. With a habitual liar, you can usually call them on it and they will either shut up or go on about how you don't know what you are talking about. They will never be able to prove what they say, so they will have to ridicule the challenge. With the path. they are usually good people with a decent attitude, and you can usually guide them in the right direction. They generally have no idea as to the truth, and are not being arrogant azzes like the bs'er.
As I write this, the thought occurs to me that you will generally only find the habitual liar on forums like this. The pathological liar does not seem to post much on these type of things. Probably because they are not looking for "glory". The habitual liar will always look for venues such as this, mainly because they can stay relatively anonymous with very little chance of being called on their lies face to face.
There is not much you can do with the idiot of which you are referring. The best defense to him is to become very knowledgable on the subject of firearms and shooting. This will give you credibility to others and the ability to prove him wrong immediately. In the long run, it may help curb his bs at least when you are around. Probably your best bet in the short term is to call him on being shot. No scar, no wound, period. The only tissue in the human body that does not produce scar tissue is the tongue. everything else, including the brain, will scar.
It is possible to trim his feathers a bit, it kind of depends on whether it is worth the effort for you. Keep us informed on his stories, they sound like a hoot.

"We have alll known people of both types."

Actually, we've elected people of both types. Don't have to go too far to find current examples, either.
