Sticking brass

i think the brass may have less internal volume, causing increase in pressure
one piece of brass each not too scientific used glass bead sand blast.
fired brass resized with same body die.
star line weighed 165.1 held 82.9gr blast
nosler 164.4 held 79.1
peterson 174.7 held 81.5

peterson and nosler within 1.5 of the 10 each I sampled
star line, not so good

How did you arrive at 42.0 gr @ 0.002 off the lands?

Did you develop a ladder with seating depth adjustments to arrive at 42.0 @ 0.002 or was this your starting load?

Hornady manual shows the 140 ELDM H4350 max at 41.5 gr. at 2.800 OAL.
Not sure about an official ladder but I normally start in the middle of what I derive from several sources powder charge. 140 gr bullets for instance Hodgdon max 40.2, nosler is 41 and sierra 42, sierra's 142 gr bullet maxs out at 42.3 go figure. Did not consult hornady because all that is available is PDF with 1 load for 6.5. you are correct it just happens to be 140 eld. Start 020 off lands and step in 003 until happy.

Think I ruined a bunch of prime brass

Here's you Hornady data. Also a lot of these guys making "thick" brass, like Alpha, ADG and Peterson recommend a 10% decrease from a known load with different brands.

Those measurements don't tell you WHERE the brass is heavier. If the walls are heavier/thicker throughout compared to the others, then pressure WILL be higher regardless of the internal capacity.

Cheers.

Thanks for everybodys input. I suspected and now believe that high pressure damaged the brass. I will make adjustments in the future. (hard to concentrate with frankies bakinis in my right eye)
Does anybody think a small base will correct?
body die will allow me to easily chamber but cant open bolt after firing.
I know a regular body die does little to the webbing area but dont know about small base.
