I bought a cooper 257 weatherby and did some digging. Vortex makes a all made in America scope the Razor HD AMG weighing 28 ounces you get alot for the noney. Their vip unconditional lifetime warranty for instance. Its a ffp illuminated optic. Look it over.

the cost of good glass has gone down quite a bit in the last year or so, you can buy a pretty good scope for around $1,000.00 or a high end scope for around $2,500.00 if you shop a little, I have $1,000.00 scopes and $3,000.00 scopes that I am pleased with at 500 to 1,000 yards, you never want to go cheap on your glass but you can find a quality scope now in the $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 range

I have a handful of S&B PM II's that I use for hunting and long range shooting. They are heavy but the work 100% of the time and I carry my rifle(s) up and down the Uinta Mountains in Utah. My S&B scopes do cost as much as my rifles. However, I have one S&B (5-25X56) that I purchased from Euro Optics around 2000, direct from Alex Roy (founder of Euro optics). He told me he would ship the product immediately and I could send him a check (that doesn't happen any more!). The scope housing is scratched and beat up, but still works great and use it on my 338 LM.
You don't have to spend as much for a S&B to get something that works well. The important thing to understand is what features you want (e.g. First focal plane, regular focal plane, variable or fixed magnification, objective lens size etc) and why you want those features.
There is a video series called Sniper 101 that is a series of videos on all aspects of long range shooting. He has 7 videos just on scopes and covers a large number of brands, individual features, why the consumer might need specific features and what price points. I included a link below to the first video in the Sniper 101 rifle scope videos.
This is the most comprehensive series of videos (or written materials) I've seen on the topic. I wish I had watched these videos before I spent $1000's on scopes that I purchased "because they had nice glass".

In my humble opinion, you simply can't go wrong with a VORTEX!

Gotta laugh at this one... A little story. A local clearing house had about a dozen Nikon x1000moa 5-25 NIB on the block. They're a nice scope and generally sell for around $700-$750... or so... retail. I have two rifles that needed some long range optics... just because... so I started bidding. In the heat of the bidding war I got carried away and ended up picking up 5 for $425 bucks each out the door. I really only needed two.. and 5 put a big dent in my wallet..
I'm not as rich as a lot of folks seem to be on LRH. So I listed them on a few of the local gun boards for 2 weeks and didn't get a sniff. A couple of low ball PM's but that was it. So I said screw it and listed them on Craigslist, and sold 3 of them for $575 cash in a week. After crunching the numbers I ended up paying $200 bucks apiece for the two... Now that's my kind of deal... Gotta luve dem auctions..

That was a great marketing tool back in the day, but as high dollar "custom" rifles and builds in excess of $2500 have become the new standard, that tool has less merit in today's market. Of course you can find the few select scope offerings that can offer that scope-to-rifle dollar percentage, but for the most part the playing field has been leveled.
What are your scope requirements?
Can't get much better than NF....

If your serious about spending $2k, $3k, or more go with Gunwerks Revic do it all optic...roughly $3k shipped and it will out perform most of these other optics that are significantly more expensive.
All of these expensive rifles and optics will out perform the shooter every day of the week. Just because you can afford to own these over-priced products does not mean you are certified to operate them in long range hunting situations. Spend the money and the time on the training to be able to accurately make long shots before spending the big money to look like you can get it done when the time comes.
Long range shooting can be correlated with Golf....if I look good and buy the most expensive products then I'll be a Scratch Golfer!!!!!! WRONG, its always the guy with 50 year old clubs and a torn polo shirt that will kick your can all over the course and leave you wondering WHY???! BECAUSE he practices his craft and can get it done with any club in his bag!!!!

If you are 'scraping together' 3 grand for a stick, I'd say you better go down a notch to a mass produced one. 3 grand is chump change for a custom built stick.
I run Swaro scopes and pay for them dearly. You get what you pay for in life. How it works.
Lots of better options out there than a Weatherby based stick.

Rich you never heard of Scopes costing $6,000 dollars?Just settle for a Nightforce Beast its 5x25x56,I think you will love it,if you want to go higher you can see it on their web-site,Sky is the limit when it comes to scopes.@ months ago I shot one at Ft Benning.Retail cost was $24,000 dollars.So you see its what you want or what you need .Believe me its out there.Gov't issue scopes will knock your socks off at what they have come up with!
