Target/ELR 375 HE..

Not as polished as some of the others.

I am using my own made forming die.
  • I reamed a old non-hardened die with a 585HE chamber reamer.
  • Counter bored the other end for a 3/4-16 thread.
  • Did my first ever inside threading and got it right. Yes I chased it with a tap that came from Amazon 2 days after the die was finished.
  • Made a 3/4-16 hollow bushing retainer. This was not chased with a die.
  • Made a whole bunch of sizing bushings.
I did not get everything perfect.

Could we get a new thread on reloading strategy for these cases, it sounded like there was some lighting issues early on but I'm not sure if that will continue to be the case or not but it would be nice to have a separate thread on reloading these cases.

Fred that is a great job you have done, great work.

Guys will be at the door for you to convert cases.

And look at all the calibers that can be built. Hahah

Yes in a while we will have a reloading thread, after little more work here,

We have two rim sizes .637 and .654, whatever you want.

If a big action, bigger than gibbs bolt face, recommend bigger rim,

as it makes less work to shrink extractor, etc to less diameter. Ed

Soon man, soon.

I get an update on Monday about resize reamer.

Rather than do it myself, to save time, I'm going to send the action and barrel out on Monday to fit but not chamber the barrel and open the bolt face. The chamber reamer should go out Monday.

A stock is another story. It currently wears a hunting stock. I've taken game with it at 500 yards as a 300 RUM. The action is 1.455, the new barrel is 1.5 at the chamber, the old barrel is more standard. It might fit, we will see. I would prefer a slab frame from billet and plate aluminum. Manually fabricating an aluminum stock to accept AR furniture is what I want to do. Time, time time.

Oh, and any one necking down 585cases, if you crumple or split one we will exchange

even up and I use bad cases to cut off to make my short 585 BB levergun

cartridges.Ed

Got about 1000 cases done with 3 entities doing them part time.

Twice as many in few more weeks, Two Reamer guys can make

die reamers. And make chamber reamer with any freebore you want.Ed

Sending out 5 bunches of cases to guys planning on builds,

two others already building, biggest hold up is die guys that can supply

relatively fast, want twice as much as I paid for my huge 700 3 die sets.

Well we solving some with reamers guys able to make resize die reamers.

And well help with/find die bodies to ream..Ed

And I been loading long target Boat tails, without separate seating die,

We don't need neck expander with boat tails, no crimp needed,

just means we must have way to to get boat tail bullets straight

in case. So we size and the sizer has lock ring tight.

Then to seat bullet straight, spin on extra thin ring under locked one, put back

in press, raises die a little in the press, but case is still centered,

when ram all the way up, then the threaded in top plug is

drilled through and lock ring on it set, push case up in about

80 % of the way with ram, set long bullet in the top, with boat tail

started in case put plug in and finish ram stroke... Bullets only go in about

.3" from boat tail edge or less on many. And all I'm testing

much less. They are loaded out a ways. I do the primer work separate

which is the way I always loaded everything any way..Ed

Some guys using bore riders say it their importance is speed

and self centering in in the bore if loaded right. So I just use one die

as described above, object being to get bullet straight in the neck.

By raising die about the length of our short neck, after case is sized,

then boat tail bullet put in, put in with tight fit, with the top plug

setting it in straight, a simple operation and done carefully and slowly.

And handled easy after loaded, as those very long bullets can be cocked if

cases dropped or handled rough..

Then the proper fit of bore rider bullet in the lands, does the rest

of the job for accuracy buy keeping it starting on down the bore straight.. Ed

One reason we got resize die reamers , one reamer can do a lot of die bodies. Ed

For ten sets of these dies we're looking at $380.98 per set. These will have to be 1 1/2"-12 or 1 1/4"-12
(your choice, but they must all be the same thread) as those sizes are what our system

How we size and seat 375 HE, one simple die, a 1" die, no monster dies needed.
A die we can make with resize reamer from reamer guy, a regular die body,
then pass on to the next guy, those reamers can make a pile of dies.

I do primer work separate, not in the press. First with lock ring set, I size cases.

When coming back out of dies with case, we notice the case still well
centered, held straight, down as far as the length of the neck,

So we put washer or another lock ring on same thickness as neck length,
below original lock ring, screw down tight tight in press,

Dies had a 5/8 x 24 thread in top, had powder fill bushing and other stuff
with same thread, reamed out from bottom to set bullet height, with ram, case,
and bullet up, Start boattail bullet in case by hand, slide up in die, into holder,
raise ram to to top, bullet seated perfect.

These target bullets held in by strong neck tension, no crimping needed, and
notice bullet point gets no marks or dents, fast, easy, no 380-500 buck dies.

OVER 900 375 cases behind getting done. Nearly 600 in another bench.Ed

With the case down the length of the neck in the die
the sides and neck corner are still supported ok,
and bullet pushes into case ok. Our testing we are loading them out
in a longer freebore, and being bore riders they center ok,Ed
