I had not been out in a gun shop in 4 months but I went last week to buy a box of .22 long rifle hollow points and 2 pounds of powder and a 2 boxes of bullets to reload with. I got a pretty good shock as you all can guess, I'd been reading some of what has been going on but had no idea how bad it is. I saw only 4 Ar's in a shop out of over 75 they had the last time I was in. They have raised the price over $700, I think you could call that greed by any standard and seems to be the American way any more every where. I for one will remember this if I buy another gun. I do like to reload during the winter for shooting at the range in the coming year and I am down to about 15 .22 shells. I cannot find a box of .22's any where, I went to several places even Bass Pro. I did get 1 pound of powder from them but no bullets. They were basically out of most powders except shot gun powder. They did not have much in the way of bullets in the most popular ones, and didn't have what I needed for my 300wm. or 6.5 Creedmoor. I tried to oder some VLD's and what I wanted was either out of stock or discontinued. So I went on Bergers web site and there was a notice they have discontinued making certain bullets to free up machinery to make the ones in higher demand because of the political climate since the election. This was posted before the shooting of the kids. That tells you a lot right there. All this is a sad state for us all and I have no idea when it will be better. I will just have to shoot fewer times until it gets better for I was not prepared for this for sure.
