I’m hesitant to report this. But in the spirit of transparency, I will. Had my first hammer failure last week. 30 cal, 124 HH, 4200 fps. Distance was 150 yards. Solid rest, patiently waited on the perfect shot on swine, light was fading fast, had to turn the fire dot on low. The seconds seemed like hours. Over a dz of the habitat destroyers were plowing in front of me. Finally, the 2 I was after made their mistake. One facing left, one facing right, lined up. I was blinded by the muzzle flash of dang near 100 grains of 4350 as I touched the trigger. I immediately grabbed the 556 with thermal that was propped up next to me and commenced to eradicate all possible. After the dust settled I went to inspect the results. The number one swine made a 20 yard death dash and expired. When the HH exited him, it entered swine #2 somewhere mid body. Swine number 2 went a couple hundred yards before expiring. Steve and Brian, This is unacceptable. I expect my projos to kill faster than that. 😉 Ps. Many swines were harmed in the development of this report.
