What @Jud96 said. All the good ole boys at my job who consider themselves gun guys didn’t realize what MOA was. They thought it was scope speak for inches. I’ve heard the sight it in 1”, 2”, 3” at 100 yards and you’ll be good out to 500 regardless of the caliber so many times that it makes me nauseous. Lol I would say that 95% of shooter see a gun, find out it’s cartridge, and slap some kind of sight on it then go shoot anywhere from 25-100 yards. Speaking of sights, the sightmark is the same as EOTech argument is quite funny too. Another example, I have a close friend who would consider himself a gun guy and was a gunner with a M240B in AFG. He asked for advice on a beginner long range / deer rifle and I recommended a .308 Winchester. He replied back with, “yeah, but is it as powerful as the 7.62x51?” My point is that cool, optimized rifles / cartridge combinations from the factory would be awesome. But the vast majority of people either don’t care, don’t understand, or a combination of the two. Gun manufacturers cater to those people because they are the majority and manufacturers can capitalize on making things easy and relatively universal. My post makes me sound like a pretentious pri ck. I promise I’m not. It’s just funny the myths and misunderstandings that have stood the tests of time and that’s what influences people’s decision making and drives manufacturers to produce what they produce.
