I like the 300 Win. Mine is a Fierce Fury with their brake. I also have a Mark V in .300 Weatherby with a Muzzle Brakes and More brake. The Weatherby is like shooting a 270 with a pack of c4 strapped to the muzzle. The 300 Win mag is probably similar (just a little harder) in recoil but the explosion is noticeably less. I can shoot 220 gr Elds cruising at a modest 2850 and its quite pleasurable to shoot. Doesnt have that sharp bite like a sporterized 7mm or 06 has. Just a firm slow push and a loud bang. Everytime I put my finger on the trigger of the Roy, it feels like I'm about to cut the wrong wire on a bomb. Now it doesn't hurt, the brake is truly unbelievable at how much it reduces the felt recoil. I would say close to half (200 gr Partition with LOTS of RL25). But it is such a violent explosion, its really not fun to shoot. Its sitting in the gun safe waiting for some money for a new barrel. At the end of the day, its not that one cartridge design is superior to another. Its really just ones ability to hold more powder than the others.
