[QUOTE="cbpilot, post: 710573, member: 54062"] I'm sorry that I seem to have created a controversy on this web forum. I certainly didn't intend for that to happen. My purpose was only to relay a true story of what actually happened when my dad used my .270 Win. ammo in his .30-06 Springfield chambered rifle. As to the controversy (which has nothing to do with what this thread is supposed to be about)........ : After thinking more about the time frame, I believe it was in the mid to late 80's when we hunted in eastern Montana. We hunted on a friend's ranch (3500+ acres) who had had major crop damage to his hay stacks throughout his land. The deer would eat a tunnel into these garage-sized stacks during the winter and then the stack would collapse on top of them. The deer would eventually die and rot. The cattle refused to eat the hay due to the odor so the entire stack was ruined and worthless. To get back to the "controversy" of party huntng..... I couldn't find my original regulations from 30+ years ago but I believe in my heart that the regs for that hunt allowed party hunting and the rancher/friend that we stayed with said it was the way they hunted, also. I'm a law-abiding hunter and try NEVER to break or even stretch the law. My dad was the same way and instilled in me a deep respect for game laws and game wardens. This forum (specifically JeffP40 and FEENIX ) seems to be one where too many of it's members jump to unwarranted conclusions and name calling. I'm not one for name calling and/or shoot-from-the-hip remarks. I wish the moderators would pick up on such things and respectfully ask the thread participants to refrain from such disrespectful activities. I wish all of you on Long Range Hunting the best but I'm bowing out of this thread and this forum. I've blocked this site so all items will now go to my spam folder & be automatically deleted.
