Reading that makes me think of my first bloodhound that I had. She would do exactly the same thing if she ever lost the trail. She would make circles and if she couldnt find the scent she would make a bee line back to the last place she smelled the deer, usually the last place I found blood. The best thing about her was she would only work it as fast as I WOULD or COULD walk. I shot a decent 8pnt one night and heard him crash but wasnt sure if he was dead. I went and got her and she tried to tear the tailgate off the truck to get out on the ground she could smell him from over 150 yards. I went to where I shot the deer and she picked up the trail no blood or nothing She also could tell him over the 9 other does that scrambled out of the patch over his path. We got to the edge of the patch and it was vines and everything so thick I couldnt go as fast as her so I dropped the leash and she stopped and wited for me I told her go get him and back to work she went only 40 more yards to the deer stopping every 10 yards or so to wait on me to catch up. Thats the best dog I ever had and I wouldnt take nothing for her. RIP ANNIE
