TXAoudad I cannot imagine a 6mm or even worse a 22 using the 6.5 PRC case. IMO the 6mm-284 is the largest case for the 6mm and perhaps the 22-243 Win is plenty in the case capacity arena. 30" 1 in 7.5 twist 6mm-284 yielded 3500 fps with a 30" barrel. Barrel lasted 1000 accurate rounds. Never used it for prairie dogs or target competition. For grins I had a 7 rem mag reamer reground to make a 6mm-7 Rem mag. Used 264 win mag cases. Intent was to use a 24" barrel and obtain 3500 fps with 105 gr bullets, in essence making the 6mm-284's performance without the long barrel. While I got the velocity I wanted, the resultant powder fouling and carbon buildup was prohibitive. It built up so fast I had a hard time developing a load. I used a 243 win Remington take off to try it and perhaps that was part of the reason for the fouling issues. I remember Ross Seyfried's article on a 6mm-264 he made called the mach IV that had carbon buildup issues. He said he didn't clean it often enough and a hard ceramic like substance developed in the throat and couldn't be removed. He had to scrap that first barrel. Second barrel was thoroughly cleaned very frequently to prevent that carbon issue. Perhaps today there are cleaners available to prevent it. If you build one please share all the details with us here.
