I don't want to side track this thread, but I have to tell this to show how stupid ( or ignorant ) some people can be. I was hunting with my partner, Andy about 20 miles north of Eureka, AK, when a guy that looked lost waved to us. He came over with his map in hand, asking for directions. He had strayed about four miles off of his trail. After helping him get his bearings, I suggested that he get his pistol out of his pack and wear it close. There were a few gut piles in the direction that he was traveling, and a few bears. He was offended by the suggestion and stated that he did not believe in guns and bear will not bother you if you don't bother them. Andy cut loose on him yelling that he was stupid, and that tomorrow we will probably see a bear walking along kicking his backpack, eating a twix and wearing his stupid looking hat. The guy left without looking back and I scared any caribou away from laughing so loud.
