Honestly, the best luck I've had is with Hornady and Federal Premium factory ammo. IMO, the most accurate factory loaded ammo is going to be the Nosler Custom ammo. But the Hornady and Fed Premium is right up there with it. The Hornady red box TAP is LE ammo for LE Dept snipers & sharp-shooters, and is made to expand nicely, so I figured I'd give it a shot on whitetails, and it worked out great! I wish I still had my old Mod 7 custom, but it was swiped by a thief back in '08...It has been replaced with my 700 5R .308 Win, and even though it's not QUITE as accurate as the old custom 7 (1-hole rifle), it's not far off, with some small tweaking. The old 7 was a true 1K rifle. It had an M24 barrel, cut down to 20", on it. I miss that gun. Hopefully the cops or somebody will find it one day and I can get it back.
