What size ammo should I use to try achive this 1000 yard mark? I also need a scope as it still shoot it with iron sights. Is there any scopes at the $100 price point that will work? I can get 3 to 4 inch groups at 100 yds with open sights(3 shot) I did a search on google to learn how to adjust the trigger pull. I have it set up pretty light and there is no 7 oclock movement with the trigger pull. I guess I need to buy a tool to measure the weight of the pull. I have great trigger desipline and never engage the trigger until I am ready to shoot. I set the trigger and then used nail polish to seal the heads not to move. I know the aftermarket triggers are great I didnt see the need to spend the money as the 1960's ADL model trigger is fully adjustable. I know I am in the right place to learn how to shoot long distance. Questions 1 is it possible 2 scope 3 rounds 4 best starters guide on this forum. Info is here but what is the best info. I am in the process of building a FAR 50 a 50 bmg bolt action, so before shooting $4.00 a pull downrange i figured I better get a handle on it with my 270. I also have a sprindfield 1903 that my grandfather willed to me and It is beautiful and shoot better than it looks. It has a flip up sight with windage I have shot 5 inch 3 shot groups at 400 yards. I dont know if that is good but It what I did. I have hit bowling pins at 500 yards with it. I have never used a scope and know nothing about them. I hope when its all said and done I will be making 1 shot hits at 1000 yards. Here are a few pics of my rifles. Any and all budget minded info is apprciated. Studying cost nothing but time. Bullets cost $$. Ord up!
I have a remington 700 in .270. It has been in my family since I was a boy. I am 38 now. I have killed several deer with it but have only shot it 30 or so times. I am on a budget but want to be able to shoot it to 1000 yards. Is it possible with a .270.
