CZ, For what it's worth, I've purchased at least a couple dozen 700s (mostly as actions) over the past few years. I love the design, and have several built for a variety of purposes. But honestly, I've seen some REAL quality control issues in many of the recently manufactured guns. Most of these revolved around problems with the bolt. Improperly located extractors (bad cuts in the bolt face), shoddy machine work, and in one case a firing pin hole that was so badly oversize that the rifle pierced virtually everything I tried in it, including factory ammo. I still buy and use 700s, but I'd much rather buy an older one than a brand new one. Al least until they go back to making them like they used to. Have a gunsmith look it over carefully, and see if there's some alignment problems or something along those lines. Hey, at this point, nothing would surprise me! KT
