The slight weight savings will help your rifle balance out a little better with a 28" Bbl, especially if you go the carbon fill A-3. Although I would prefer a 26" max but nothing wrong with a 28. In a hunting scenario the carbon barrel will not give an accuracy advantage and not enough of a weight savings advantage compared to a 4-5 contour worth mentioning. In my eyes it just comes down to looks and budget. If your going to make this barrel last as long as the first one then go for the CF barrel for the extra $350-400. If your going to shoot it all year and hunt with it then have to replace the barrel in 1-2 years maybe your better off with the steel barrel. Either will perform great, one just looks cooler.
I have a Proof CF and steel barrels. If you make this barrel last another 15 years I'd say the CF is worth it. It will look a lot better sitting in that A-3 than a skinny steel barrel. :D
