It was a wet (light drizzle) but calm morning - mid 40s and no wind. It rained the night and days before. The ground was muddy wet. I was afield by 0700 and by 0715 I spotted a single antelope buck ~13" about 50 yards and never saw me. Two more followed 15 minutes later, about 75 yarder, and a herd of 10 does. Before 0800 quite a few wanton shots were fired on private properties next to the BMA I was hunting. Around 0815, about 3 ridges over, I spotted a small buck acting strange, he ran 50 yards then sat on his rear. He did this a couple of times under he dropped out of sight. I wanted to investigate but when I got to the ridge, I couldn't locate him. I hiked 2 more ridge over, when I spotted a bedded buck behind me. When I got ~ 200 yards, I noticed that he was hurt. I am guessing he was the same buck I spotted earlier and that perhaps he got shot from the neighboring property. Once, I had a steady rest, I shot him with .200 gr NAB off my .300WM and used my buck tag. When I dressed him, his spine was grazed. My hunt was done by 0830. After a 2-mile drag, I got to my vehicle around 1030ish where a couple of Airmen from my squadron were waiting. They were hunting a few hundred yards away. I gave my antelope to one of the Airman that did not get drawn this year. I guess my tag was not a total waste. Despite all that I had a blast and I was home before noon.
