[ QUOTE ] Is that snow or white sand? [/ QUOTE ] Jim it is snow but we did not have that much snow on the San Andres range . The pic is of the mountain range to th north and east of the WSMR and that tallest peak is the Sierra Blanco , around 12000' I think . We did not have any snow to speak of down on the desert floor . If it hadn't have been for the wind the temp would have been pretty warm. The white sand area was south of where we hunted on the range . And yes ! they are very tough , the G&F officer that spoke at our orientation said that he had witnessed a shot that blew a hole in the neck of one and it stood still looking at the shooter and took off never to be seen again . Looking at a skeletal view of them makes it clear why this can be so . The spine does not follow the line of the top of the neck but instead drops down low then goes back up making locating it for a neck shot difficult. The best price I heard of for private land oryx hunts was 3700 dollars , at least it was for 5 day hunts instead of two . That can probably be beat , maybe someone will post some info about that here . Coues man , The rancher was Troy Floyd and the G&F in Roswell has his number along with several others . I didn't write his number down , sorry . Jim B.
