Heya guys, Does another caliber meet my requirements? Just looking for some input and experienced advice. *edit* I do reload *edit* I'm ordering a rifle from len here are going to be the meat and potatoes specs 28 or 30 inch barrel to get maximum velocity from the .308 28 in in sendero contour, 30 would be in MTU Mcmillian stock Long action NO brake Chambered in 308 win This rifle will be mainly used for mind numbing amounts of practice by me to prepare myself to step up within the next few years to a truly long range rig. I would like to practice up to 1000 yards. I have zero experience shooting beyond 4-500 yards, that is the limit I held myself to with the capability of my current rifle and the accuracy I could achieve with it. In addition it will be used by my children and the women in my family for hunting from a rather nice stand on top of a hill with 600 yard shots MAX. -I want good barrel life, i want to practice with this rifle ALOT and not worry about shooting the barrel out in 1500 rounds. -Low recoil similar to a 308 -If i can find a range within 5 hours or so of North central arkansas that hosts F/TR events i would like to be able to shoot in them but its not a definate requirement. -I want to be able to reliably kill whitetail from 6-700 yards. I still want sufficient energy left to kill. Are there any other caliber choices that have similar barrel life and killing ability to the .308? While maintaining low recoil? Some wildcat or obscure round I havent thought about? Sorry for the wild ramling format of the post im at work and rushed on lunch break to write this. Feel free to chime in with any advice Thanks Bishop
