[QUOTE="whitely, post: 265010, member: 5167"] A LONG time ago, during my misspent youth, I had the PoPo "take" a 12 gauge J.T. Stevens shotgun from me "to check it out". The barrel was sawed down to 18 1/2 inches, and they wanted to make sure it was legal (I used to pack this shotgun during camping trips to lay waste to various forms of wildlife). The shotgun didn't have any serial numbers, which further irritated the PoPo. When I picked it up a the station, they belly ached about the lack of a serial number, but let me have it, since shotguns made a long time ago didn't have them. We used to call that thing "The Mule", since it weighed about 4 lbs, and with the short barrel ... As long as you haven't tried to alter or destroy any number, you should be fine.
