Hey Dave - Re: newcon 2000 Dave, A coupl;)estions: On a russian olive bush @ 238 yards in the sunlight my Leica 1220 won't touch it. I have to range on a shady spot in a group of trees as near to the point of interest as I can. Most times it isn't close enough in to the range of the point of interest. Will the Newcon perform more consistently in that regard? Ranging from the sunny side of the mountain to the shady side of the next or before and after sunrise & sunset the Leica 1200 will get me to 1217 and not a yard further. This is as good as I need for the moment but not for long. At those distances and conditions the Leica is major super, from my own testing, at reaching back in to the trees. I've recorded several tests over several days where I centered the sighting square on openings that went well back into the trees. I took a reading there then one square up, one square to the left, the a square below the first one that another shot to the right. The Leica showed different distances for each of the shots. Ther were occasions where the center range was up towards 100 yds into the trees from any of the other three sighting. That capability is really important to me. A range of error of not many yards is a bad thing at those distances.;) Having said all of that, how does the Newcon compare? The Leica seems to fit within the small sighting square just right. PS: I'm betting there is somekind of an adjustment in the Leica's that keeps it from ranging > 1200 yds. I'll wait till I'm rich and can replace them then get out the screw driver and go to tweaking.
