I know I know, another hammer thread….sorry. Wife surprised me this year for my Bday and took me out to buy whatever gun I wanted. Ended up settling on a Weatherby Mark V Accumark Elite in .257 Mag. I love the quarter bore and am currently running a 25SST, so figured why not get something to push the lighter bullets at warp speed. After talking with some people on this forum I settled on the 92HH in a quest to get as close to 4K as I can. Went out with 4 different powders today. IMR 4350, RL17, H4831sc, and RL26. Loaded 10 up for each powder spaced out by .5 grns. Won’t bore with each result, but I’ll post the cliff notes below. IMR 4350 65grn/3574fps, 67grn/3754fps, 68.5grn/3861fps no pressure signs need to load up higher. RL17 63grn/3665fps, 65grn/3722fps, 67grn/3882fps, 67.5/LabRadar doesn’t go this high 🤦🏼♂️. Still no pressure signs need to load higher. H4831sc 69grn/3557fps, 71.5grn/3710fps, 73.5grn/3847fps. No pressure signs need to go higher. RL26 76-78grn/too fast for LabRadar. Light ejection mark at 77.5grns, more pronounced at 78grns. I knew there was a max speed on the LabRadar but I thought it was 4K. Looked at the manual and it’s 3900. Guess I found it.lol. Now I need to find a friend with a magneto speed!
