I really like the SPS tacticals. The stock sucks, but that's an easy upgrade. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Remington-Model-SPS-Tactical-Rifles/754565.uts?slotId=1 SWFA 10x is an extremely reliable scope. Its fixed power though. https://swfa.com/swfa-ss-10x42m-tactical-30mm-riflescope-6.html I like Athlon too. I have 4 of their scopes. Here is the Athlon Argos. A lot of features at a great price. This is comparable to the Viper Vortex HST. https://athlonoptics.com/product-category/riflescopes/athlon-optics-rifle-scopes-argos-btr/ EGW rail https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1018662029/egw-1-piece-picatinny-style-base-remington-700 Burris rings https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1548148716/burris-30mm-xtreme-tactical-weaver-style-rings-matte-package-of-2 Bipod https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2135353352/caldwell-xla-bipod-sling-swivel-stud-mount $679 (Rifle) + $399 (Scope) + $37 (Rail) + $65 (Rings) + $60 (Bipod) = $1240 Total That leaves you $360 for shooting gear like bags, rests, maybe a nice range finder, or you can use that extra cash to upgrade the stock or trigger. The set up above will get you out to 750 yards, give or take 50 yards, reliably. Anything within 500 yards, I am confident will be easy pickings depending on your shooting skill level.
