I got a rifle in the early 70's from an older Bench shooter chambered in that round that was built in the late 60's. It came with some brass and some modified dies, I think Pacific. I did a lot of research on that round when I got the rifle in the 70's. The parent case, 308 Winchester was not that easy for me to modify then since I didn't have all of the case cut off tools. The cases that came with the rifle had a .0002 shorter than a 30BR and 20° shoulder instead of the 30° shoulder of the 30 BR and would have probably worked by fire forming but I finally had a .308 barrel installed. If my memory serves me it was a Remington 721. It had a 1-12 twist and was fun to shoot with light recoil and easy on powder. Traded the rifle for an old 1911 in the late 70's since I already had a 30-30 for hunting. The round was great out to about 150 yards with me shooting it. Back then it was compared to the 7.62 or 30-30 in velocity but higher pressures in some of the books I read.

Good luck with your new Project. Be sure to give Ernie a call. I have three of the stocks like he has for sale. I got them through him on a group purchase from McMillan. They are great. They fit great in the hand and make the XP easy to shoot from a bipod, tripod or bench rest with the angle of the grip. Ernie will do your right. He helped me along after I found 2, 7BR XP's and an Estate sale. I got a rifle in the early 70's from an older Bench shooter chambered in that round that was built in the late 60's. It came with some brass and some modified dies, I think Pacific.
