OK, we need to see some love for slug guns here too. 870 with Hastings bull barrel, Timney 2 1/2 lb trigger job, 1 1/4 oz SPW handloaded slugs at 1450 fps that print through darn near same hole at 100 yards. Bucks just crumple when hit with this slug and has exceptional accuracy. This is a 100 yard target with the SPW slug after I swapped out scopes. The first shot was high and right, I over compensated to right by going wrong dang way with scope in brain cramp and then over compensated to the left. The correction to center resulted in 3 rounds in almost same hole at 100 yards. The reason I am showing this target is to show the consistency of the load. I can actually walk a load into the bull even at 100 yards with scope adjustment which is normally tough to do with a slug due to inconsistency that can be with them. This buck is from this year and was shot at about 55 yards and you know he is done when they run "downhill" into the ground in 25 yards or so. This 870 is really my go to in heavy tight cover since whatever it hits is likely to not go far!;)
