[QUOTE="Packrat 6, post: 1098221, member: 80288"] After posting that last disparaging post about djones, I went outside on the back patio and was reading through the brochure from Harbor Freight that arrived in the mail today. I heard some of the neighbors talking while walking their dogs on the side street adjoining the house and really wasn't paying much attention when I heard a scrabbling noise on top of the Masonry wall and a mountain lion came bounding over the wall, shot past me about 10' away and kept on going to end of the property and over the other wall. Then I noticed that the dogs out on the street were going crazy. Wasn't a big cat, about half grown at a guess, and seemed to be fairly skinny and maybe 60 - 80 pounds. Happened entirely too fast and I didn't even have a chance to get concerned till it was all over. Now it has rained sporadically here lately as the Monsoons are starting up so would think there wouldn't be any reason for them to be down here in a housing area, except maybe feral cats. I walked over to the wall and the people there with the dogs couldn't figure out why their dogs were going crazy and trying to get over my wall and they didn't even have a flashlight and it was well after dark. I explained what had happened and they were shocked that we had mountain Lions running around the project. I also explained to them that we had killed about 10 rattlesnakes last year on the streets in the area where they were walking and thought the lady was going to have a coronary. They had only moved in about 2 months ago and thought that the area was just about the same as Minnesota. Well guess not! Like I said, happened too fast to bother me then, but will start carrying my pistol out at night, just in case, because when it cools down in the evenings, I like to sit outside and either read or browse the paper. Don't think I would get attacked, but really, who knows, and is only the 3rd Mountain Lion I've seen in 10 years, but all sightings have been in the last year and a half or so. Seems to be getting worse. If they'd let us hunt a couple of them I think they'd stay away, but this is still an Archery only hunting zone. Will let my neighbor John know tomorrow, maybe we can do something about them. Don't know yet, but they are coming down from the hills. I know djones, no picture, didn't happen......Oh well.
