[QUOTE="LeddSlinger, post: 959327, member: 65338"] I'm not saying that long range shots on big game don't have a time and place, I just don't set it as a goal. The farthest shot I have made on a big game animal was 655 yards and I didn't even want to do that, but a hunting partner wounded the buck with the first shot and it was getting close to going over a ridge in thick timber so I brought it down for him Second farthest shot was on an Antelope doe at 643 yards. Normally like to get a little closer, but there was no terrain to allow a closer shot. We hadn't been seeing a ton of goats, it was getting close to the end of the hunt, I had a solid prone rest and knew I could make it so I took her down with one shot. I'll admit, I'm proud of those shots, but I never go into the hunting field with the intentions of beating those distances. Perhaps one day a situation will present itself where I do make a kill at a farther distance. Dont know, don't care. But I will still do my best to make sure I always get as close as possible.
