Here we have the latest Sambar stag to fall to the DE 338 EDGE from Shawn Carlock in Idaho. [Took him on Tuesday morning at daylight after glassing a group of deer accross big wide river canyon. They were making there way up off the rivers edge after feeding all night. I had seen another stag that I very nearly decided to shoot, but decided to let him walk. Good thing I did cause after another 15 min of glassing this guy pulled up on the other side and began to face rub a big box tree. I immediately knew he had to die, so scrambeld to get the big gun out of my Eberlestock pack and set up. Quick, quick rear bag in, level the gun, crank a round in the chamber.... Range. range... range **** !!! range 350 M.. Awsome ! Laying out prone on a severe down hill slope I extended the bipod to max and aquired him in the scope... Boooom Wooooosh.. Thump !!! Got ya. Almost a going away shot aiming to hit behind the last rib and get up front. He swallows it up and rund up hill 4 steps and into a nasty thick patch of dogwood and out of sight. I sat for another half hour glassing to make sure he didn't sneak out. After loosing one early in the year I decided to give him the morning before following up. Snuck back in at midday and found him dead laying in his bed not 20 m from the impact point. The big Sierra sat him down real quick. A true 600 lbs model. What a great looking stag. Super massive for weight and width 28 x 35 wide. Big and gnarly just the way I like them. Man, I love this gun !!
