Gentleman I am writing this in the hopes of getting some, (the best) information that I can find in the hopes of clearing up my mind on the choice that I am trying to make concerning the purchase of a HMR 17??? I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and I have hunted in this state for over 60 years and laity i have been offered a deal by a member of the Game commission to eradicate a section of the State of coyotes that have been slaughtering the new born fawns of the deer as soon as they hit the ground.. In the past couple of Months I have been using a 300 Blackout but even though I use a suppressor on it, the report is way to loud and if there are more than one at the bait sight, I can get one and the others will disappear, never to be seen again and the range of the black out with only 10 grains of H110 is to short.. I am really looking at the HMR 17, Rugar Model 8311 for a replacement for the 300? I would like to stay less than $600.00 for the 17?? I have several scopes that I can use.. Help please Knapper
