I sight in and hunt with a cold clean barrel. You can’t tell to what degree a barrel is fouled, but with todays bore scopes you sure can tell when it’s clean. Before the foam cleaners, I would run a patch soaked with Sweets 7.62 through the barrel, if it came out with any green tinge, I would use my Outers Foul Out system, which through a kinda’ reverse electroplating would remove all the copper. Now days, the foam cleaners reduce the need to use the OFO system except maybe once a year. After each daily hunt, I use a Bore Snake with just a touch of Rem Oil. Next morning, a simple dry patch gets it ready for the day. Prepping for storage, it/they go back to clean with touch of Rem Oil.
