I built my self a 260 AI because it will push the 130 6.5 grain bullets over 3,000 ft/sec with out max pressure. Mine is in a un-braked 26" barrel. It will also push the 120 grain over 3100 ft/sec. I like both bullet weights for deer and the fact that no tracking is involved. This rifle is built on a model 788 Remington action for the strength and center feed Mag. Nothing wrong with the regular 260 rem, I just wanted to get the most out of the case life and boost the velocity without excessive pressure. Like you I liked the fact that brass could be made from the 308, 7/08 and the 243 cases. Now that Lapua is making brass for it, I bought some to have the correct head stamp on the brass. My experiences with these cases (308 based) is that it seems they work well with 18 to 26" barrels and any more length, the velocity gains are very small. This cartridge is very capable for deer size game beyond 6 or 700 yards and targets well beyond 1000 yards. J E CUSTOM
