Hey guys, I’m building a 7 SAUM on a XM length Defiance action so my max mag length is 3.2”. I am wanting to take full advantage of that mag length. Now trying to decide on freebore and needing some clarification and guidance. I know typically you pick one bullet and build off it but I don’t know what bullet I want to use. With today’s market not being able to get anything reliably I want to have options. 4 of the top bullets I’m looking at are listed below with the COAL and CBTO measurements: 175 ABLR COAL 3.101” CBTO 2.445” 175 Elite Hunter COAL 3.101” CBTO 2.382” 180 Hybrid COAL 3.100” CBTO 2.382” 145 LRX COAL 3.100” CBTO 2.455” So looks like the 175 ABLR and the 145 LRX are very similar in CBTO and COAL. And the 175 EH and 180 Hybrid are very similar. Question if you set the freebore on the rifle to give zero jump (jammed into lands) on a bullet with a CBTO of 2.382” would all bullets with a CBTO of 2.382” also be jammed or zero jump? And would that mean that a different bullet with a CBTO of 2.445” not fit in the chamber without seating it 63 thousandths deeper? Or does CBTO measurement not directly correlate to freebore? In my situation with the bullets listed above and the different CBTO's and wanting to take full advantage of the max mag length of 3.2” how would you set the freebore on this rifle and please explain why. I’m trying to understand all this. Thanks.
