Anyone who "runs down" NXS glass is an idiot. It is very, very good. Is your ATACR with its ED glass better? Sure, but only by a small amount, and my 5-25 ATACR tunnels so that my real minimum is more like 6.5x (irritating, though I still love the scope - see photo at left). Are Swaro and Zeiss better glass than the NXS's? Yes, but only by a small amount and their tubes, knobs and construction are too "delicate" to suit me, and their reticles too lacking. You have to look at the whole package. An NXS 3.5-15x50 weighs 30 oz. and has 110 MoA of elevation adjustment. If you can stand the weight (which is simply the unavoidable price you pay for have the most indestructible scope made) that would be hard to beat. I don't think they ever made it with the MOAR-T but they used to make them in NP-R1 and NP-R2, which are almost exactly as thin as the MOAR-T and are illuminated. The whole reticle lights up, not just the little center "+" like on the MOAR-T, but who cares. An NXS 5.5-22x50 weighs only 1 oz. more, and has 100 MoA of adjustment. My favorite hunting scope is the Trijicon Accupoint 2.5-12.5x42 in MoA Dot. Weighs 22.5 oz. and has 90 MoA of adjustment. Has battery-free illuminated dot, very good glass. But if I'm not walking too far, make mine a NF, and an NXS that weighs 30 or 31 oz. is just fine.
