Taken a few goats over the years with a few different guns.......basicly the one in my hand at time has workt with no real favorite . They aint hard to kill ya just gotta hitem. With that being said three or four have been taken with a Tikka ultra lite in 30-06 & 168 Amaxes, easy to carry a great shooter! If I was to pick a favorite it would be the Tikka lite in 6.5x55 sweede. Got these three with the Cz527 in 6.5 Grendel a couple years ago, all just long of 400 yards. It does a great job if you get a good range and wind read. The old Ruger 7mag shooting 160 partitions acounted for most of the early goats. The old engineer 96 sweedish mauser even got the call one year, two does @ 250 yards with the original open sites got the job done Kinda long winded mainly because I have never owned a 308 or 270wsm and only shot one deer with a 708. Everyone says a 25-06 is the gun to use on goats but one of mine just looks good (& shots like $#!+) and the other looks like $#!+ and only likes a 75 V max. Basicly your gonna use the one you decide to take and it will more than likely be enough gun.
