Southpaw, are you sure it was Parole Agents? I know for a fact that the State of California is not laying off Parole Agents, because I work for the State. As a matter of fact, we need around 500 new Parole Agents. Parole Agents currently working in California are under a ton of preasure. Their case loads are too high to manage and the resitivism rate is increasing because the agents can't monitor the parolees. However, it is true that counties across the state are laying off Probation Officers. My county just laid of 25 probation officers today. Either way, it's really bad when a state starts laying off the people that protect them instead of cutting stupid liberal programs. As I mentioned, I work for the State of California, and what I can tell you is, the crime rate is at an all time high. The prisons are over crowded and the streets are full of parolees that can't be monitored effectively without Parole Agents or Probation officers. Not only are the crime rates sky rocketing, the criminals are getting bolder and parolees know that the Parole agents are overworked, so they are commiting crimes like never before. The media does not want to report that, because they no it will cause panic within the population. The crime rate has gone up 100% in my county alone, thats huge! The bottom line, we need Parole Agents, Probation officers and Police Officers to protect us. There is no excuse for cutting any of them, we need more of these people, ALOT MORE!
