I dusted off my S&W (Howa) 1500 Deluxe (3006) I bought when I was 14, worked up a load, rescoped it with a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10X50 and it shoots great (sub MOA). I have not hunted with this rifle in over 15 years and while working up my load I fed it one round at a time so did not notice anything strange. I was testing each round to make sure they were not tight in the chamber and could not get the last round to feed in to the chamber. The last round pops up and out and does not push forward. I have tried messing with the follower spring but that is not fixing my problem. Feed lips look fine. Follower looks flawless. Everything seems to fit together the way it should. Is it possible I need a new feed spring (probably a better name for this)? I guess for now I have the first four shots of which I should only need the first one! My brother had the same problem with a SAV 308 but he sent it in and was never sure of what the problem was.
