I hope this is not too rude to join a group and immediately post a request for information. A group of us are going to try and go to Colorado for the 2nd Rifle Elk season this year. We decided on Unit 67 because of it's proximity to Gunnison. Some of the group will probably have to fly in order to make the trip. What I would like to find is any local knowledge for unit 67. Not as specific as take county road such and such, climb to top of the ridge and that's where the elk will be. But more of general areas to concentrate out scouting/hunting efforts. There should be at least one hunter draw a tag. Hopefully 2 or 3. Anyway, if anyone is willing to help out I would greatly appreciate it. I went as a spotter last year with a couple guys who drew tags in unit 66. I never saw an elk alive. I did hear a couple bugles after a gentleman shot a bull up in the timber above where we were hunting. I did see a cow moose. She came within 40 yards of me while we were sitting late one afternoon. I had so much fun, I came home and bought a new to me Remington 700 LSS LH rifle in .300 RUM. I put a temporary scope on it and shot a white tail doe with power level I ammunition in January. She was just inside 300 yards and I hit her in the neck just in front of the shoulder. I plan on taking taking it to the range and seeing what my limits are as far as range. And try some different ammunition. Anyway, I am excited about this fall and look forward to getting up into the mountains again. If you would prefer to contact my outside the list, my address is USA_774*at*y a h o o . c o m Thanks, Chris TAMU '81
