The .243 I save for those days in Nebraska and Iowa when the wind is howling. My 22-250 is a Remington 700VSSF. 6-24 Bausch & Lomb scope. Cryo treated barrel, action blueprinted and trued. A few other tweaks also. When I manage to shoot it out, I'll be keeping it in the same caliber. Maybe I'm weird, but other than some military and cowboy calibers, I seldom have more than one gun in the same caliber. I don't tend to go crazy for new calibers. I'd still like a .204 Ruger. Heck, the only reason I have a .17HMR is all the written reports when it was introduced. I was resisting with little difficulty. The CZ452 was new and I was resisting that. Then CZ offered a full, Mannlicher style stock in .17HMR. As soon as I read about it, I ordered it. That's rare for me. Sure glad I did. If I bought another 22-250, it would have to have fantastic wood!!!
For prairie dogs, woodchucks, fox and coyote I use these .17HMR, .22LR, .22 Magnum, .22 Hornet, .222, .223, 22-250, .243. My .222 is a blast and is scary accurate. my 22-250 is my favorite for longer range. My .22 Hornet is my favorite for 150 yards or less.
