I agree... unless I don't. What I mean is that for me... right now... its all about the kill. that's because I lost my job a few weeks ago, and have to feed 6 mouths somehow. I guess I can consider myself lucky that I lost my job right before deer season... silver lining. I usually hunt for the overall experience. I love being in the blind before the birds and squirrels start making sounds. I love watching young deer run about, and bucks chase does, and when I know there is a good buck... waiting for him. I agree. You may want to remember though that some people aren't as fortunate as others. I mean, right now... deer season was timed perfectly. I lost my job two weeks ago. I've got only a few tags, with which to feed 6 mouths. Hunting in my family has always been two-fold. Food/Tradition. Nothing is wasted. We don't pay folks to handle our animals. We don't hunt with $1000.00 rigs much. We kill food, and apply as much "sport" to the endeavor as possible... when possible. When not, we hunt food. I only say this to point out that while I totally agree with you, in a good year; I have lived on both sides of the fence, such as this year. If I had 10 doe tags, I'd try my best to fill 10/10 this year. Neck stew tastes way better than antler stock.
