I also got a model 94 in 30-30 manufactured in 1910 which was just something my grandpa acquired in his younger years. and lastly a colt black powder revolver with not real significance other than its a family piece and looks cool...
I may over value them. My grandpa recently decided to sell off a bunch of things he didnt want of need anymore. He by no means needs money. He also apparently has no sentimental value to guns. Long Story short, I found out about the auction by chance as it was an online auction through a local auction company. (sounds weird I know) anyway I ended up buying 6 of the guns. one was an old pump action savage 29a I believe 22 rimfire. has a very old scope and mount on it. It was owned by my great great uncle who was killed in WW2, next I got an old Sako pre garcia in 243 that was my Great Grandfathers, this was the gun he used to put food on the table most of his adult life, I never met him as he died long before I was born. Next was a pre 64 model 70 in 257 roberts which was my great grandmothers (who I did know) she hunted with it for years and years, I also got a pre 64 model 12 in 16 ga which was the first "nice" shotgun my grandfather bought once he started making enough money to afford such things. I also got a model 94 in 30-30 manufactured in 1910 which was just something my grandpa acquired in his younger years. and lastly a colt black powder revolver with not real significance other than its a family piece and looks cool... To me those are all special pieces. I have all of my first guns that I have kept original. I hope that my son and daughter value them someday, but I guess if they dont then I wont know the difference.
