I took a 125 lbs. doe after just arriving in wyoming the first afternoon at 20 feet. Yes, feet, not yards. The bullet left a 2" exit and both lungs hung in the trees about 10 feet back! I was amazed to say the least! I shot the doe because I was somwhat skeptical on having the bullet blow up and not penetrate. I then took a bull elk the following day at 130yrds. I thought he was much bigger than he was, ended up scoring under 300". It was my first elk and I definatly jumped the gun. It looked huge standing there in the pines. no exit but it only ran 15 yards. I shot it broad side just a couple of inches behind the shoulder blade. I was amazed at the similarity in exit holes to be honest. both bucks were taken at around 100 yards. Not somthing you want to worry about if a trophy is standing in front of you. You must pick your shots carfully. I would much rather have the old ultra mag. at my shoulder. [QUOTE="alexkeyser, post: 250335, member: 7705"] This year I used my .257 weatherby mark V, with a 115 gr. berger VLD @ 3360fps, to kill 7 animals from Wyoming to New York. 6 were deer and one was a bull elk. not one including the elk, made it more than 20 yards period. I have no clue what it weighed but I couldn't drag it by myself:D I then took two bucks over the next week, an 8 and a 10, both roughly 160-175lbs. in WY and SD. both were dead before they hit the ground. 2" exit hole in both. one was shot in the neck and one through the ribs on the onside and out the shoulder blade. I was amazed at the similarity in exit holes to be honest. both bucks were taken at around 100 yards. I did not have reason to range it as it was not at all long range:rolleyes: after I returned to New York I shot a 150 lbs. 7 pointer at 430yards in and out through the ribs broad side, golf ball sized exit again. the other two were does with similar results.
