"It's been done" "Performance of xxx is the same or close" blah, blah. No offense to Kirby or Dakota Arms but.... They use a proprietary case design that was altered from the 404 Jeffery. So rolling your own is close but not the same from 404 Jeffery as from Allen Express or Dakota. Performance could be exact though. Performance wise, sure it is the same or close to many chamberings but it's not the same chambering. My take on it. I am a fan of 404 Jeffery based chamberings. From the WSSM to the RUM (2 300RUMs and a 338 in progress). I don't have one of each in a rifle but it could happen. When the prints for the 26 Nosler were released, I immediately put them into QuickDesign (great tool). Then altered the caliber for everything from .257 to .416. i like it all so much that I started planning projects. By the time I got around to trying to contact PTG the caliber variations were all listed except the 416. Now if I could just get PTG to return my calls so I can go on to the next phase of my projects. Rechamber my Mark V 338 Win Mag to 338-26 Nosler Rechamber a derelict P17 375 H&H AI to 375-26 Nosler Rechamber one of the mousers to 8mm/323(ne 325)-26 Nosler Rechamber my Mark V 30-06 to 308-26 Nosler Get a 7mm/284 barrel and chamber to 7mm/284-26 Nosler, perhaps I'll rechamber my "RemAge" Criterion barrel but more likely I'll put it on a Mark V Get a 277 barrel and chamber to 270-26 Nosler Other than the Mark V 338 Win Mag, the actual action I use for all these is up in the air. I could make a switch barrel Mark V.
