Thanks everyone for your comments. It really was one hell of a fun hunt, a great cabin to stay in, great land to hunt, and thankfully to me I was able to get just enough cell service to check in on my wife and little boy enough to keep me worry free Just like BJ said, every time hiking up to one of these big stinking suckers i would curse everything i could think of but within about 5 minutes of carrying everything down i was ready to go back again, or at least go the next day lol As for the shooting, well it ended up being a lot farther than we thought and ideally neither of us would prefer to take a shot that far at a animal but like BJ said we had practiced just a day or so prior out to 1500yds or a little more with great results. It was a great learning experince and humbling as well, I have the upmost respect to anyone who has carted a elk out of the mountains and while it can be miserable i cant wait to go back and do it again. As far as learning, well both of us made pretty good first shots if not for a minor error one way or another, those decent shots were followed on both sides by a few rushed and not thought out shots that were a waste. Once both of us took the time to calm down, get a proper range and settle in for the shot it was a done deal. all in all i cant wait to go back again!!! steve
