So I picked up a fiberglass stock on armslist for my winchester model 70. It was inletted for a featherweight and my rifle is a magnum sporter. A previous owner has messed with it, but for $65 I figured I'd give it a shot. I opened up the barrel channel and removed some bedding material so my barreled action now fits in the stock. I plan on bedding it and have done that a few times before, so I dont see there being any problems there. My question is about bedding the 2 piece bottom metal. The inletting is really sloppy and uneven. Does anyone have a trick to make sure it's all level? I dont want any problems with the floor plate not closing or not staying closed when I'm done. I plan on using acraglass gel because I already have some. Thanks in advance
