Advice needed for a new guy (NM)

I'm just getting started this year with varmint hunting. I have a stevens (1 in 9 ) 223 and a pentax 4x12 scope i am looking for any location recomendations as far as were to find the varmints i'm headed down to socorro for the yotes, however prairie dogs and other varmints are still giving me the slip. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. that and i'm still trying to figure out the best way to hide my scent. When i'm large animal hunting i stuff my clothes in a plastic bag full of pine needles the night before but i'm thinking that yotes and such are smarted then deer.

The only sure way to hide your sent is to stay down wind of them.
