Worked today on .257 Roberts and the 90 grain Absolute Hammer. Temp:30F, Powder H335, Primer Fed210, COAL 2.88 Barrel 22” (Kimber) 1/10 (Book max with 90 gr. Sie HPBT 43 gr. H335 @ 3100 FPS. 42 gr. 3112 FPS 43 gr. 3224 FPS 44 gr. 3291 FPS 45 gr. 3373 FPS 46 gr. 3456 FPS 46.5 gr. 3516 FPS (slight ejector mark) 47.0 gr. 3475 FPS (heavy ejector mark/bolt lift) Still room left in the case, but reached pressure at 46.5/47. Looks like 46 gr. is about the place for this rifle/power/bullet combination. All weights grouped into one neat little group, with only a bit of horizontal stringing. This rifle has never been a real “shooter”, but at less than 7 lbs. with sling & scope included, it’s fun to carry. It appears this .257 Roberts will really gain a lot of punch with the Absolute Hammers. At 3450 FPS the 90 grain AH generates 2400 EFP, while the existing 117 gr. load I’ve been using (@2875 FPS) generates only 2100 EFP.
