Here are some loads I have made with my 6-284s (Fed 210 match primers in all loads. Necked 6.5-284 Lapua brass) ------------------------------------------------------ 24" rechambered Rem takeoff formerly 243 1 in 9 1/4 twist: 95 gr berger classic hunter. Worked up to a very accurate load of 54 gr of RL-17 for vel of 3468 fps ---------------------------------- 1 in 7.5 twist 30" 5R Bartlein 115 dtac bullets: Retumbo: 55 gr yielded 3220 anything more opened up H-1000: 51 grs was most accurate 3158 fps RL-17:47 gr 3200 fps DTAC never was that accurate moved on to the 107 Sierra matchking -------------------------------------------------- 107 Sierra MK seated .010" off lands: H4831: worked from 49-51, 52 had some bold lift. 50 gr was most accurate 3125 fps RL-17: 47 was max for 3250 fps Retumbo: 57 most accurate 3265 fps RL-22: 53 gr most accurate 3280 fps ------------------------------------------------------ Berger came out with their 105 Hybrid installed a wyatts mag box so I could have a repeater. Bullets were seated with a .065" jump to rifling. Retumbo: 58 gr for 3365 fps -------------- Anomaly in barrel had to cut it off at 28 1/2" and recrown 105 Bergers continued: Retumbo: 58 gr now yielded 3307 fps ------------------------------------------------ Switched to RL-33 Needed a drop tube even with that careful pouring was necessary. Your results may vary: 61 gr 3274 fps 62 gr 3335 fps 62.5 3376 fps 63 gr 3414 fps 63.5 3453 fps 64 3484 most accurate in this rifle 64.5 slight bolt lift Killed a coues wt with this load two years ago distance 520 yds. Barrel is showing signs of extreme wear. Over 1100 rounds. Shot 20 rounds with it last weekend. Continued to shoot without any cleaning and yesterday it began to throw bullets over 2" from POI at 100 yds. Borescope shows a horror show of cracking and crazing going over 20" up the barrel!Cleans up with much effort using boretech and Iosso. I think I am going to pull it and install my new 5R Bartlein 1 in 8 twist and chamber it for the 6 BR to shoot those wonderful 105 Berger hybrids. In the future when I make another 6-284 I will stick with Rem 243 takeoffs and shoot lighter bullets for varminting. Those takeoffs are inexpensive. I do all work myself so it is no big deal to rebarrel. I suggest you choose a bullet and stick with it. In future if I ever make another heavy 6-284 I would use either Retumbo or RL-33 AND NOT MESS AROUND WITH OTHER LOADS!!
