Almost forgot, there was an exit wound on the offside shoulder. I was surprised by that as the bull was huge! Sorry, I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet.
Well, just got back from Utah. It wasn't much of a decision after my 338 continued to shoot random fliers. Pillared, floated, etc etc by Hill Country Rifles. Gotta be the scope or the barrel? Anyway, took the 6.5x284 shooting bergers (Gunwerks rifle). Long story short, the last day of the season had me within 752 yds of a 365 bull:). Problem was I wasn't getting any closer. I laid down in a very uncomfortable position. I dry fired a few times at some cows. When the bull appeared, I let it fly. He went down within 10 yds:). Now, I'm not saying that it is a better caliber for elk than the 338. But I'll say that I was absolutely IMPRESSED!!! Bull went down much quicker than my bull last year that was hit twice in the same area with the 225 grain tsx. Oh no, did I just start a bullet war also?:). Almost forgot, there was an exit wound on the offside shoulder. I was surprised by that as the bull was huge! Sorry, I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet. I texted Len....maybe he can post it up IF he has time. Good hunting and good shooting to all!:) 93trojan
