I should have a couple of hundred 156 Berger's arriving this week and will do load work up. Initial measurements from spec data indicate that this throat length "should" allow sufficient room to achieve 2975-3000 FPS, using slow burners like R26/Retumbo, seating to the lands, and COAL(approx. 3.3") of the cartridge to feed from my magazines. The base of the Berger 156 should extend .110" further into the case then the Berger 140 VLD which meets the exactly where the case body and shoulder meet on the Lapua brass...when seated to the lands. [QUOTE="Greyfox, post: 1675425, member: 10291"] I have a few Criterion barrels, 2 in 6.5x47, and one in 6.5x284: 26” Light Palma, 1;8TW. All my Criterion barrels are nicely finished inside and out, and deliver superb accuracy and consistency. They are used with Savage and Bighorn actions, and incorporate nut and recoil lug available from Northland(James provides superb service and advice. While the 156 Berger’s can be used with the 1:8 twist, for use with +150gr bulletin I order the 1:7.5TW. The 6.5x284 chambering from Northland/Criterion is a true Norma spec with a .188” throat. I should have a couple of hundred 156 Berger’s arriving this week and will do load work up. Initial measurements from spec data indicate that this throat length “should” allow sufficient room to achieve 2975-3000 FPS, using slow burners like R26/Retumbo, seating to the lands, and COAL(approx. 3.3”) of the cartridge to feed from my magazines. The base of the Berger 156 should extend .110” further into the case then the Berger 140 VLD which meets the exactly where the case body and shoulder meet on the Lapua brass...when seated to the lands. I’m planning to confirm/test all this over the next week or two. Some results and rifles with Criterion barrels used for PRS/competition and Hunting, Also Criterion spec sheet for their 6.5x284 Norma chambers.
