I have a Browning in 223 WSSM that I can't decide what to do with. Have already shot the throat out on it, though it is still shooting pretty well. Have never liked working with the heavy brass and the super-thick necks. It was one of the calibers that I started to learn reloading with, and it taught me a lot.....most of it in the Oh S*** department. I have been enamored with 264 cal for a long while now, and though I had initially decided not to pursue it, I have recently changed my mind, and want to swap out the 22 cal barrel to a 6.5. I want to shoot the long bullets, which would void using the mag, but I have never used it anyway...feeding is a pita! Figured if I really felt like I needed cartridges in the gun, I could work up a load with the 125 partitions that would fit into the 2.37" box. I love the gun, as it was a gift from my dad, but am not a fan of the original chambering. The A-bolts are slick and sturdy, and I love the short bolt lift and throw. Still have a couple hundred new brass that I figured I could resize to .264. So...what do you think? Who has an opinion on my plan!?? What I have read is that the 6.5 wissum is doing well in F-class at 1000 for a few folks, and that I could get plenty of velocity out of the shorty to throw deadly passes to farther than I know how to shoot. YET.
